Thomas H. Handy Sazerac Rye 2024 Release
The 2024 release of Thomas H. Handy Sazerac Rye delivers an exhilarating and bold expression of rye whiskey that continues to define the standard for high-proof, uncut, unfiltered ryes. Part of the esteemed Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, Thomas H. Handy Sazerac Rye is revered for its intense character, rich complexity, and unique ability to balance fiery spice with smooth, deep flavor.
This year’s release boasts a vibrant nose of rich, dark fruit—think dried cherries, apricot, and a touch of honey—intertwined with classic rye spice aromas of cinnamon, clove, and pepper. On the palate, the whiskey delivers a powerful yet velvety mix of flavors, with bright, zesty notes of orange peel, baked spice, and a slight herbal sweetness, all harmonizing with the peppery kick that rye is known for. The full-bodied mouthfeel is complemented by a touch of oak, adding layers of complexity as the whiskey unfolds on the tongue.
As always, the 2024 Thomas H. Handy is bottled at cask strength, allowing its high-proof intensity to shine while still offering a smooth, satisfying finish. The whiskey’s robust and lasting finish lingers with a balance of spicy rye and gentle oak, leaving an impression of vanilla, caramel, and a slight smokiness—an elegant conclusion to a bold drinking experience.
Thomas H. Handy Sazerac Rye is highly sought after by whiskey enthusiasts, collectors, and connoisseurs due to its rarity and exceptional flavor profile. It’s a true showcase of the artistry behind Buffalo Trace’s rye whiskey production, and its cask-strength potency makes it a stand-out for those who appreciate a more intense, full-throttle rye.
Best enjoyed neat or with just a splash of water to open up its full spectrum of flavors, the 2024 release of Thomas H. Handy Sazerac Rye is an absolute must-have for any serious rye whiskey aficionado or collector looking to add an exceptional bottle to their collection.
